A brief introduction to the kalimba
Kalimba is an African national instrument with national characteristics.Kalimba has different names in different African countries. For example, Kalimba is Kenya's name for the instrument, while in Zimbabwe it is called Mbira. The Congolese call it Likembe.
It got its name mainly from the use of the thumb to move the thin slices on the body of the instrument (mainly made of wood, bamboo and, in modern times, metal).Traditional kalimba USES gourds to make resonators.
The sound parts of the carimba are elastic metal strips of different lengths on the top, and wood or gourd melon is used as a sound box on the bottom.In the past, these strips were made from only molten metal in ore, but now they are made from higher-quality steel.
